Above, the Orgreenic ceramic cookware ad you've no doubt seen on TV. I bought a similar pan for use as a Christmas present and now I'm suffering buyers' remorse. I wish I'd researched the pan before I bought it. Don't get me wrong...it might be as good as the ad claims...I just don't know, and not knowing has given me the willies.
Read the Orgreenic reviews on Amazon. A lot of buyers are dissatisfied. Negative reviews claim the coating chips off, things stick to it, the handle is uncomfortable and the customer service is bad. They say if you're hell bent to buy one, buy it from a store and not online. It's easier to return that way.
Positive reviewers claim that people who've bad experiences used abrasive implements, didn't let the pan soak before cleaning, didn't season it correctly, and cooked at too high a temperature. Maybe they're right. This video (above) shows the pan being scraped hard with a metal spatula.Yikes!
This video (above) compares non-teflon non-sticks that sell for $50 or less. It comes out in favor of the Tefal Professional which sells for $35 for a 12" pan. On another video a chef claims the red dot in the middle of this pan is useful because it lets you know exactly when to add the food or oil. He says non sticks work better if oil is added only after it's heated to the right temperature.
This man claims that any cast iron skillet can be made non-stick simply by seasoning it right.
This doctor (above) says iron pans aren't good for men, and he makes a pitch for titanium. Is he right? I don't know. Titanium frying pans are pricey...$100 to $160...but maybe they're worth it.
